Our Monitoring Approach

Mixed Signals’ next generation monitoring solutions are more intelligent, robust and comprehensive than traditional monitoring solutions. An industry-best number of critical issues are detected (most often before subscribers experience them), detailed reports are generated for historical/trending analysis and our products offer scalability and an easy-to-use web interface.

Breadth of monitoring capability and depth of analysis are enormously critical to cost reduction. Intermittent quality issues and major points of failure, like carousels, generate an extraordinary amount of trouble calls and are extremely difficult to troubleshoot without proper equipment. Mixed Signals’ monitoring solutions perform deep inspection of every packet across hundreds of channels simultaneously for anything that impacts a subscriber’s viewing experience and provides detailed reports on service degradation, which is something that traditional monitoring probes simply cannot do.

To provide an example, Sentry’s continuous monitoring generates historical reports with up to 60 days of information and detects intermittent and critical problems that are undetected or often missed by other monitoring tools, including temporary loss of audio/video service, audio silence, video freeze, tiling, macro blocking, pixilation, slow channel changing, STB application errors (e.g., Electronic Program Guide) and missing SCTE-35 local ad insertion cues, to name a few. Often, these intermittent issues contribute or result in expensive customer calls, truck rolls and, in some cases, loss of revenue.

Every Mixed Signals product includes a local database and built-in troubleshooting tools that can be accessed by multiple personnel from different locations to assist with problem isolation, without the need to bring monitoring/alerting functionality offline. Mixed Signals’ customers are assured of identifying or being alerted to any issues within their system, and they conduct root cause analysis effectively with detailed reports and tools to prevent serious issues from developing and minimize time to repair.
